Wildlife in Crisis

Facing a Bleak Future
Wildlife around the world is facing unparalleled pressure from poachers and the illegal wildlife trade. It’s a huge problem worth billions of dollars per year and it’s estimated that Elephants are being killed at a rate of 35,000 per year – equivalent to 96 per day, Pangolins are disappearing from their habitats as they continue to be the worlds most trafficked mammal and rhinos continue to be killed for their horns in unsustainable numbers We want to make sure that everyone knows how bad the situation is, and we want young people to get involved in making clear this situation needs to change! To do this we want to reach and engage young people in the conservation debate.

In the “We are the Rangers” Education edition there are five “worlds”, each with a bespoke lesson plan – these maps and lessons will bring the wildlife crisis to life for students and show them the issues facing wildlife from poaching and trafficking and human / wildlife conflict and presenting some of the actions being taken to help these situations – working with rangers, tracking down at risk elephant populations via DNA taken from dung samples (and lots more!)

We’re delighted to reunite with the Minecraft creator community and to work with Microsoft to bring you “We are the Rangers” Education edition – an awesome map with associated learning materials written by some of the biggest names in the Minecraft education community. The “We are the Rangers” map and learning materials are free to download (and will be forever), all you need is the right Minecraft Education licence in your school!
